National Centre workshops and support

National Centre 2012 professional development

This year there are a range of professional development opportunities for individuals and organisations committed to improving literacy and numeracy in New Zealand.

Organisational Support Services in 2012

These services are tailor-made to meet the needs of organisations. They are focused at whole-of-organisation development of Embedded Literacy and Numeracy (ELN) and are therefore intended to include professional development opportunities for managers and support staff as well as educators. The services are only 50% subsidised by the TEC, so all activities will incur a cost.

Bookings are now being taken. If your organisation wishes to put in a request, please contact Elly Govers at the National Centre.

New Youth Guarantee providers

Providers new to Youth Guarantee are being invited to participate in regional clusters. This work programme focuses on making the connections between Assessment Tool results and teaching/learning practice. In addition to professional development for educators it also supports managers and Assessment Tool administrators. Invitations to participate were sent this week, if your organisation is new to Youth Guarantee provision and you have not received an invitation please contact Sally Davies.

Regional Engagement Approach

The Regional Engagement approach aims to bring together key providers in regions to identify regional needs, to maximise resources through collaborations and to extend reach into existing and new networks. Invitations to participate will be sent by the end of May.

Leadership Programme

Professional development in leadership brings people together in similar roles from different organisations to build capability of strong leaders within organisations to effect organisational change and to address hard to solve puzzles.

A range of leadership fora will begin from July.

Symposium and Workplace Hui

These concurrent events are scheduled for 28 and 29 June. For details and to register click here.
